We are hiring Water Meter Installers for a large municipal water meter replacement project in Hainesville City, Florida.

The project includes approximately 12,500 meter replacements involving 3/4" and 1" water meters. Installers will replace existing meters and meter boxes, install dual-check/backflow devices, activate new Badger water meters and Orion cellular units, and complete required installation documentation. Approximately 5,000 locations will also require service-line material identification and documentation.

This is a production-based outdoor field position for dependable individuals who are mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently, and motivated by the opportunity to earn more through productivity.

Responsibilities

Water Meter Installers will:

  • Remove existing 3/4" and 1" water meters.
  • Install new Badger water meters and cellular endpoints.
  • Activate new meter/transponder equipment.
  • Remove and replace meter boxes.
  • Install dual-check/backflow devices.
  • Cut, fit, glue, and reconnect PVC piping as instructed.
  • Verify curb-stop operation before beginning work.
  • Shut off and safely restore customer water service.
  • Check completed installations for leaks.
  • Flush water lines after installation.
  • Identify service-line materials when required.
  • Photograph required stages of the installation.
  • Scan and document old and new meter/transponder numbers.
  • Accurately enter information into the handheld/work-order system.
  • Notify customers before temporarily shutting off water.
  • Clean the installation area and remove old material and debris.
  • Return old meters, paperwork, and project materials at the end of the day.

The project procedure requires installers to document the condition before work, expose the meter setting, install the dual check, scan the new meter and transponder, and properly complete project paperwork.

Completed installations must also be checked for proper meter direction, leaks, flushing, meter-box placement, transponder mounting, and site cleanup.

Production Expectations

After training and the initial two-week learning period, installers are expected to complete a minimum of: 8 to 10  completed installations per week 

Quality is just as important as production. An account is considered complete only when the required photographs, service-line information, handheld information, and paperwork have been properly submitted.
